Richard Kreider
The Author
Richard Norton Kreider was born in France in December 1953 and first became absorbed in the world game during his junior school days in Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire, England.
He emigrated to Australia in April 1972 and immediately linked up with a soccer club as a way of making new friends in a new land. He won the Amateur Cup with Morley Windmills in 1977 and represented the Amateur Soccer Association State team for ten years (1981-1991) before hanging up his goalkeeping gloves and turning his hand to journalism.
He enjoyed 15 years on Perth radio and is currently in his 23rd year as a freelance photo-journalist. The West Ham United tragic scribed for Perth's Sunday Times (1984-87) and is currently the Perth correspondent for Sydney's Australian & British Soccer Weekly. An acoustic neuroma (brain tumour) in 1992 and throat cancer in 1999 failed to decelerate his enthusiasm, as he went on to produce two books on Western Australian football. Is currently on the Football Hall of Fame (WA) committee, married to a fervent Rangers fan (Elaine) and has one son, Trevor.
